The CDRs are available free of charge for all purposes from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eumetsat.int\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">EUMETSAT<\/a>&#8216;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cmsaf.eu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Satellite Application Facility on Climate Monitoring<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/wui.cmsaf.eu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Web User Interface<\/a> at monthly, daily and hourly means at a spatial resolution of 0.03 degrees.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_449\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bluemarble.ch\/wordpress\/2012\/03\/15\/remote-sensing-of-solar-surface-radiation\/attachment\/0\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-449\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-449\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-449\" src=\"https:\/\/bluemarble.ch\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/0-300x177.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"177\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bluemarble.ch\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/0-300x177.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bluemarble.ch\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/0.jpeg 850w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-449\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Climatologies of global (SIS) and direct beam (SID) surface radiation over Europe and Africa derived from Meteosat First Generation Satellites<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The processing employed a climate version of the well known Heliosat algorithm combined with a open source clear sky model (<a href=\"http:\/\/sourceforge.net\/projects\/gnu-magic\/\">gnu-MAGIC<\/a>) using an eigenvector look-up table method. Modifications to the Heliosat method include a self-calibration algorithm as well as a running mean based clear sky retrieval algorithm.<\/p>\n<p>More information to this dataset and related algorithms can be found on our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.meteoswiss.admin.ch\/web\/en\/research\/current_projects\/climate\/cmsaf.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CM SAF project web site<\/a> at MeteoSwiss.<\/p>\n<p>R.
