At the age of 18 I have constructed myself a Pong hardware using the AY-3-8500 integrated circuit on a self-made circuit board &#8230; basically a DIY game console! The game has now rested for more than 25 years. I have discovered it and was unable to connect it to any screen since it features a RF transmitter and needs to be connected to a regular VHF tuner which does of course not exist any more for most of today&#8217;s TV&#8217;s (remember the old days when you had to fine tune the TV channels?).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-756\" src=\"https:\/\/bluemarble.ch\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_20180810_121921-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"563\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bluemarble.ch\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_20180810_121921-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/bluemarble.ch\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_20180810_121921-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bluemarble.ch\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_20180810_121921-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/bluemarble.ch\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/IMG_20180810_121921.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Thanks to PJ Evans and his inventive <a href=\"http:\/\/mrpjevans.com\/2014\/05\/binatone-composite-mod\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">post<\/a> a simple composite output can be constructed to using the video and sync signals of the AY-3-8500. The small circuit board on the lower right corner is the composite video add-on.
